Wine Xing of Wilsonville will be holding a special wine tasting event from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday March 12, at Wine Xing, 25977 S.W. Canyon Creek Road. Join owner Eric Bean and others for a “Taste of Italy.” The event will focus on wines from the Italian regions of Tuscany and Piedmont. Cost is $25 per person. Limited seating.
Wine Xing’s next event will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday March 26, when winemaker Andrew Rich will appear and sample his own wines with visitors. This event is free.

The Wilsonville Senior Living Community will be holding its first annual handmade craft fair from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at the Wilsonville Senior Living Center, 7600 S.W. Vlahos Drive. More than a hundred people are expected to plant trees in honor of their friends and loved ones at Friends of Trees’ annual commemorative planting from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge in Sherwood. All who gave or received commemorative trees during the past year are invited to plant their gift trees at the event. Family and friends are also welcome. Registration is from 8:45- 9 a.m.

“Who’s on Third?,” a community concert series, will continue at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at Woodburn United Methodist Church, 700 N. Cascade Drive, Woodburn, with a performance by the Second Wind Swing Band. Second Wind will play big band favorites from the 1930s, ‘40s and ‘50s, including arrangements by Nat King Cole and others. A goodwill offering will be taken, but the event is otherwise free to the public. Refreshments provided.

The next edition in the Northwest Author Series at the Wilsonville Public Library will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 16, when award-winning playwright Shelly Lipkin will speak. Lipkin will describe how he develops characters and dialogue for a play, as well as how writing for the stage differs from writing screenplays for the big screen. The seminar will also explore the process of constructing text that brings a character to life.

The West Linn-Wilsonville School District’s choir teachers, and the Music and Arts Partners non-profit organization, will host the second annual honor choir experience for district music talent in grades 7-12 at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at the Rolling Hills Auditorium, 3550 S.W. Borland Road, Tualatin. The event will feature performances by a combined middle school choir from Athey, Rosemont and Wood Middle Schools, a combined high school choir from West Linn and Wilsonville Schools, a middle/high school men’s choir, a middle/high school women’s choir and a combined middle/high school choir. The festival concert will be conducted by Dr. Steven Zielke, Director of Choral Music at Oregon State University. Free to the public.

The Clackamas County League of Women Voters will hold a citizen forum to discuss county government from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at the Clackamas County public services building, 2051 Kaen Road, Oregon City. Economics and politics are dominant topics in the news media, in coffee shops and even in the homes of Clackamas County residents, property owners, voters and tax payers. The forum will examine how county government works, as well as the issues and opportunities it faces now.

Financial Peace University, a 13-week program taught by Dave Ramsey, will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at Grace Chapel, 28925 S.W. Boberg Road, Wilsonville. Wilsonville artist Bill Marlieb will be exhibiting a collection of his paintings through Saturday, March 15, at the Charbonneau branch of West Coast Bank in the Charbonneau Village Center. The first exhibit for 2008 at the Old Aurora Colony Museum in Aurora, Oregon, “It Seemed He Was Missing: The Mystery of William Keil’s Extended Family,” will continue through April 13. The exhibit explores the lives of Keil and his family, one of the first families to settle in the area.
