‘Cats keep winning trend alive
Wilsonville boys win own Invite, conference match in last week’s action

The wins keep on coming for the Wilsonville boys golf team.

On April 29, the Wildcats won the annual Wilsonville Invitational at Trysting Trees Golf Course in Corvallis — the site of the 5A state tournament.

Wilsonville won with a team score of 304, besting Century (318), Sherwood (324), West Linn (330) and St. Helens (383).

Century’s Mike Noreen took medalist honors with a 71.

Wilsonville’s Scott Karlson and Travis Johnsen tied for second overall with a 73, both shooting 36 on the front nine and 37 on the back nine.

Wilsonville sophomore Jesse Salzwedel tied for fifth overall with Century’s Chris Gamache, shooting a 77 (37-40). KJ Larsen rounded out the team score for the Wildcats with an 81 (39-42).

Alex Bartholomew was the team’s No. 5 golfer with an 85 (40-45).

On April 28, Wilsonville again the Northwest Oregon Conference match at Glendoveer Golf Course in Portland, shooting 300 to best Sherwood, which shot a 323.

Hillsboro was third (325), followed by Glencoe (333), Century (337), St. Helens (372), Liberty (373) and Parkrose (404).

Johnsen took medalist honors with a 69 (36-33), followed by Karlson, who shot a 72 (36-36). Larsen took fifth overall, shooting a 78 (40-38).

Salzwedel was the team’s No. 4 golfer, rounding out the team score with an 81 (41-40). Jordan Beltz was the team’s No. 5 golfer, shooting a 93 (43-50).

This week, the Wildcats play in the conference finale at Forest Hills Golf Course with host Hillsboro on Monday at 1 p.m.
