Marla Holmes
A memorial service begins at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 8 at the West Linn Lutheran Church, 20390 Willamette Drive, for Marla Holmes, who died of cancer on April 30, 2008. She was 50 years old.
Holmes was born on Jan. 20, 1958 in Dreux, France, to George and Martha McAdara. She grew up as a military child and spend the first several years of her life in France. She moved to Bend while in middle school. She graduated from Bend High School and worked as an orthodontic assistant for 23 years, ending up in the Portland area. She worked for Dale Rhoney and Gary Chapman.
In 1990, she married Craig Holmes, who worked with the Army National Guard. She spent the next 10 years helping out as a family program coordinator. She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling to central Oregon, outdoor and church activities, and volunteering with schools. She also volunteered with Willamette Young Life in West Linn. She enjoyed being around children and giving them a helping hand.
Holmes is survived by her husband, Craig; sons Kyle and Kevin; brothers, Larry McAdara of California, and Joe McAdara of Anchorage, Alaska.
