The monthly meeting of Oregon House District 26 Democrats will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at 7589 S.W. Thornton, Wilsonville. Guest speaker will be Clackamas County Commissioner Martha Schrader, currently running for position 3 on the board of commissioners.

S & A Traditional Irish Entertainment will host a house concert by Nancy Curtin, with Hanz Araki and Cary Novotny at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Tualatin Winona Grange Hall, 8340 S.W. Seneca Street. Curtin has toured the United States extensively, sharing her renditions of traditional Irish songs with audiences across the country. Tickets are $15 reserved. Seating is limited. The 11th Annual “Steps for Life” fundraiser which benefits the non-profit Canby, Molalla and Woodburn Pregnancy Care Centers will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Foothills Community Church in Molalla. Each year, the two-mile walking event rotates between Molalla, Canby and Woodburn. All walkers, with or without pledge forms, need to register between 1-1:30 pm. All ages welcome. There will also be face painting and other entertainment for children.

Clackamas County Women’s Services will hold a Teddy Bear Parade at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, in Oregon City. To do so, however, the group is asking for 30 volunteers to help support and direct traffic during the parade from 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. The parade will travel from downtown Oregon City to Clackamette Park. It will not go on 99E, but will detour around the Oregon City Shopping Plaza. Police and firefighters will assist. A meeting for prospective volunteers, who must be 18 or older or under the supervision of a parent, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at the Milwaukie Presbyterian Church, 2416 S.E. Lake Road, Milwaukie.

John Lyons certified riding instructor Randy Byers will be holding a two-day riding clinic on Saturday and Sunday, May 10 and 11, at Sunnybrook Farms, 8775f S. Highway 211, Canby. The clinic is for all ages and beginning to advanced riders. It is intended to improve pleasure riding an show ring performance by teaching timing, consistency and firmness with one’s horse.

Wilsonville High School 2003 graduate Heather DeWig is “Defying Gravity” at her Portland State University senior vocal recital at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 11, at the First Unitarian Church at the corner of S.W. 12th Avenue and Salmon Street in downtown Portland. DeWig will perform songs from the hit Broadway show “Wicked,” as well as classical art songs, operatic arias and musical theater pieces.

DeWig is set to graduate from PSU in June with a bachelor’s degree in music. Her emphasis was vocal performance. Free to the public.

The Aurora Colony Historical Society will host a book signing by Jane Kirkpatrick, as well as a benefit plant sale, from noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Sunday, May 11, at the Aurora Colony Museum, located at the corner of 2nd and Liberty Streets in Aurora. Kirpatrick will appear from 2-4 p.m., while lants will be on sale from noon until 4 p.m. The third and final book, “A Mending at the Edge,” in her series about Emma Giesy, a descendent of the Old Aurora Colony is her latest release. The museum’s temporary exhibit called “All About Emma” examines Giesy’s life and will be in place from April 29 through June 22.

The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and on Sunday from noon-4 p.m. Closed Mondays, major holidays and in January.

Mentor Graphics will host “Perspective - Through The Lens of a Child,” the company’s 15th annual children’s art and curriculum show, at 7 p.m. Friday, May 16, in the Mentor Graphics Commons building, 8005 S.W. Boeckman Road. Dessert will be served. Open to the public. Mentor Graphics is one of only a few Portland-area companies to offer its employees an onsite full-day child and family support program. Since 1992, they have provided a developmentally appropriate program for children six weeks old through kindergarten age.

Clackamas County 4-H groups will celebrate Springfest all day on Saturday, May 17, at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds, 694 N.E. Fourth Avenue, Canby. Many programs will be held during the day.

The second annual Build-A-Barn Dinner and Auction will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds, 694 N.E. Fourth Avenue, Canby, inside the Event Center Main Pavilion. The event is a fundraiser planned by the Clackamas County Fair Improvement Foundation to build a Multi-purpose facility to replace the fairgrounds’ current 1920’s-era livestock barn. A new, 47,000 square foot building is planned, including space for disaster relief and emergency management supplies for Clackamas County authorities.

The event will start with cocktails, with a prime rib dinner at 7 p.m. The oral auction follows. Items up for auction include an aerial tour of the Columbia River Gorge and vacation packages.

The 19th annual Tualatin Chamber of Commerce Crawdaddy Open golf tournament will start at 10 a.m. Monday, May 19, at the Tualatin Country Club, 9145 S.W. Tualatin Road, Tualatin. Registration opens at 10 a.m., lunch for registered players is at 10:30 a.m.-noon. Following play, there will be a dinner buffet, no-host bar, awards and raffle. Cost is $125 per person. This includes 18 holes of golf in scramble format with cart, competition, raffle prizes, lunch, post-play awards party and dinner. Field limited to 144. Proceeds will support the chamber.

Legacy Meridian Park Hospital, 19260 S.W. 65th Avenue, Tualatin, is holding a CPR – Initial Course for Healthcare Providers from 6-11 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at the hospital. This course is for participants who require a card documenting successful completion of a class for healthcare professionals. You will learn the skills of CPR for all ages including ventilation with barrier devices and bag-mask devices.
