GBAD hoops camp sign-ups under way Registration for the GBAD summer girls basketball camp, ran by Wilsonville High School girls basketball coach Cindy Anderson, is under way. The first camp runs from June 20-23. A second session runs from July 5-7, with grades three through seven playing from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and eighth grader through seniors in high school running from 1 to 5 p.m. Cost is $75 per session or $125 for both sessions. Wildcats boys hoop camp June 26-29 The Wilsonville High School boys basketball program will be conducting the annual Wildcat Hoop Camp from June 26-29. Camp sessions are 9 a.m. to noon for third through sixth graders and 1 to 5 p.m. for seventh through 12th graders. For cost and registration info, visit the links on the school web site or call Chris Roche at 503-750-1500. A price discount on sign-ups runs until June 19. Wilsonville hoopster camps under way City of Wilsonville Parks and Recreation Department’s Little Hoopsters camps begin June 19 at Wilsonville Memorial Park. Coach Mike Nichols, who has been on the Wilsonville High School basketball coaching staff since the school opened in 1995, is running the camps for the seventh consecutive year. Each player receives a baskteball and t-shirt to after the completion of the camp. The Little Hoopsters Hoop Camp, for children in first through third grade, will be held June 19-22, June 26-29 and July 31 to Aug. 3 from 9 a.m. to noon. The Hoopsters Nothing But Net Camp, for fourth grade through sixth grade students, will be held July 10-13 and July 17-20 from 9 a.m. to noon. The Hoopsters On Fire Offensive Skills camp will be held from July 24-27. All camps are $65. WHS XC to hold training sessions The Wilsonville High School cross country team will hold summer training sessions on Monday and Friday at 10 a.m. and Wednesday at 6 p.m this summer. at the Wilsonville High School track. Training lasts about an hour-and-a-half. In addition to running, the team works on improving core strength and improving running form and efficiency. All incoming WHS athletes and alumni are invited to join in the training runs, which range from two to 10 miles, depending on training background. On top of regular training runs, the team will also hold a running camp from Aug. 7-11 at Cape Lookout State Park on the Oregon Coast. Cost is $75. Led by head coach David Barkley, the Wilsonville High School cross country team has won a state trophy in each of the last five years. In three of those years, the Wildcats have won a state championship. Wilsonville’s coaches are former college runners who are certified by the United States Track and Field Association. |
